Leslie Nielsen Dead at Age 84

Leslie Nielsen, an actor best known for his roles in films like "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" series, has died at the age of 84, according to The Associated Press.

Nielsen's agent, John S. Kelly, said the actor died Sunday at a Ft. Lauderdale area hospital near his home in Florida. The actor was being treated for pneumonia at the time of his death.

"We are sadden by the passing of beloved actor Leslie Nielsen, probably best remembered as Lt. Frank Drebin in 'The Naked Gun' series of pictures, but who enjoyed a more than 60-year career in motion pictures and television," said a statement from Nielsen's family according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Canadian-born Nielsen began his silver screen career in the mid-1950s when he came to Hollywood after performing in 150 live television dramas in New York.
Though he began his start as a serious actor, the lighter side of his personality became prominently featured in the 1980 hit film "Airplane!" Neilson's co-star in the film, Barbara Billingsley, died on October 16.
Nielsen was married four times and is survived by two children.
